Our Wildlife In 2002, the Journal of the American Medical Association, performed a study concluding that exposing children to pets during their first year of life might in fact help prevent the development of allergies down the road. The journal, Pediatrics, reported researchers have found that babies who grow up in homes with a pet, vs children who live in a pet-free home, are less likely to get sick. These results support the notion that overly sanitizing an infant's environment is not good for their health. At Shining Stars we want healthy and happy kids, so we expose the children to a variety of animals. Shining Stars believes it is important for children to be surrounded with animals because wildlife can teach children responsibility and compassion. To a child, the world is only what surrounds them. It is hard for them to grasp the concept that there the world is made up of much larger pieces . Wildlife offers a child the insight into the world as a larger picture.
A Glimpse at our Animal Friends!
"…children are disappearing from the outdoors at a rate that would make them top of any conservationist’s list of endangered species if they were any other member of the animal kingdom." Tim Gill British advocate of play in The Ecologist
